Empowering Our Communities

Why Street Soccer?

It's not a sport. It's a culture.

  • This is how soccer (futbol) is played all over the world; the common person's game. It wasn't meant to be pay-to-play.
  • Communities self-organize for unstructured, pickup play.
  • Once blighted spaces transform into vibrant epicenters.
  • Anyone can play—all ages, genders, and skill levels. All you need is a ball!
  • Players develop better game skills while also fostering social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Revitalizes the overlooked and restores faith in each other.

Street soccer creates inclusive sanctuaries where a dream and a ball are all it takes to come together for the love of the game and those who play it.

What is the tour?

  • Free, unstructured, pickup street soccer in venues all across the city from June to October.
  • Each venue includes four portable soccer pitches and transforms a previously quiet space into a vital, safe, active, community gathering spot.
  • Each venue taps into existing community-based organizations.
  • Builds confidence, connection, and community among players.
  • Connects sponsors with underserved communities and helps build social equity for neighborhood residents.

Does your neighborhood have what it takes?
